SNAFU

Current Mood: Just Shoot Me. thought i'd do a quickie post while i eat my gourmet lunch. I've been passively growing mold here at LM for the past 6 months and now that I'm leaving, everything goes FOOBAR! on me in production. ladies and gentlmen - witness murphy's law in action. i still have to set up a company, find housing in california, get my plane ticket, and make sure i take my sanity to cali in 2 wks. it's all too fun and exciting i have trouble containing myself!

this prod support guy i talked to all morning was getting real smart on the phone cause u know how much they like prod outages. well, i kindly asked him if i could bring up the system and he snapped "ya, if u want to see the system up for 2 seconds." and i said "oh, thanks, really appreciate the sarcasm there. " and he responded, "yea, uh, no, i was just saying.." and i cut him off "yea, i know u were just
saying but i called to get your professional comments and advise instead." all in a very civil and sweet tone which he finally complied with.
Reminds me of the good ol' XM days. well, the issue ended up being a memory leak from the upgrade which is a great relief since 1) there's a new patch out there now and more importantly, 2) it's not my fault.
Have to work this weekend though, they're really making sure i'm gonna miss this place. I have to say though, i once worked with a guy that seemed to beam and thrive especially in chaos and lifeless when work is calm. i'm starting to sense some resemblance... may have to file this one under "addiction."

What does "FOOBAR" mean or stand for?

"FUBAR" was a WWII military term.

i was referring to the more politically correct reference to FUBAR which i know is of military origin - just like SNAFU. Foobar is not an acronym, it's normally used a an example programming function in coding much like how "hello world" is used as example program. just like how many ppl say SNAFU as situation normal all "fouled" up instead of F*. foo pass the editors in text books i guess :)
