Still in california and starting to miss the east coast dearly! it's been a good 6 months since i've moved out here but still feel like i'm living out of a suitcase. california has been kind in a very neutral, nonchalant sorta way. recently, i've started having a strong sense of nostalgia towards friends and family back home, my house which is still home to me, and my dogs. think a lot of it has to do with the unsuccessful progress of making friends in LA. it's tough with no connections, a ring on the finger, and a beat up car that looks like it's developed skin disease. never thought these superficial trivialities will make such a difference compared to my wit and charm, but california seems to be altogether a different beast. maybe it has always been the case in maryland but due to my pre-built social support system, it never occurred to me. so i probably should mumble some stuff about how this is a good life experience etc but i'm really going through social withdrawal and i need quality company ASAP! (note to remaining friends back home - this is the time to visit!!)
This brings me to the topic of work crushes. how many of us develop crushes at work? it's so inevitable it's sickening.. and depressingly useful to be honest. company motivation expires oh, i would say around 5-6 months for me which is right about now. the mere presence of a work crush makes the carpal tunnel pain just a little duller, the boredom a lil more tolerable, and the coffee breaks that tad more pleasant. of course this applies to work "crushes" only. work romances are a completely different topic that will be revisited as circumstances change - just kidding. needless to say, i have a work crush! one of the worse kinds in the sense that it does not provide the benefits above but replaces the pain and boredom from work with ones of anticipation-disappointment and self-ridiculed monologues. oh happiness!
So the true reason why i'm blogging again is really to procrastinate doing my taxes... i've exhausted almost all other options. where's mimi when i need her!!

mimi replacement?
