The Start of Goodbyes

Finally booked the flight, hotel, and rental car for now. even got my ticket to go watch Wicked saturday since they're performing in LA.. been wanting to catch it for a while, guess it's a better time than any.

This might sound trivial but there's been this really large light brown cricket living at my house for the last 2 weeks. i know it's the same one cause i don't get many other bugs other than spiders and ladybugs in the house and this one was particularly large with black spots - i think it escaped from my cousin's room since he feeds them to his reptiles. well, i first saw him in the basement more than a week back while i was on the threadmill and decided to let him live. then a couple days back i saw him again when i got home from work on the stairs leading to the kitchen- same large cricket. the thought did cross my mind that i should probably scoop him up and put him outside but i had too much in my arms so i just decided to let him be and share the habitat.

So when i went to bed last nite, i hear this semi-loud rustling sound in the corner of my room - the type of noise that comes from something alive and big! i'm trying to find out what it is but everytime i'm near it stops making noises. finally after prodding through the bags and clothes on the floor for a while (i'm not particularly the neatest person right now) i see him! the same large cricket on the carpet in my room! he was moving or jumping around on the plastic bags, surprised he wasn't making any of his chirping sounds while he was at it so i wouldn't have to get out of bed. but anyhoo, mystery solved so i let the guest be and went back to my bed which is a thin futon on the floor next to the real bed.

Come this morning, i snoozed til 8 as usual and woke up hoping that the system did not crashed during the nite so they're not gonna start calling me from work, i flipped my blanket over and right there INSIDE my blanket next me the first thing i saw was - the dead large brown cricket!

How weird is that??! How did he get in the blanket?? What does this all mean???! guess i shall never know. but that's my 2 wks with the lil guy - morale of the story: always scoop up the cricket and let him out of the house before he dies in your bed (ew?) :(

So wait - is this like a permanent thing or just a temporary arrangement?

Oh, and that's one thing that cats have over dogs - they take care of mutant crickets for you. ;P
