Why do people coin being alone as such a dreadful and pitiful predicament? A condition that must be avoided at all costs even if it means whoring yourself to the public during most if not all your waking hours in order to get that sickening dose of self assurance from the collective group so that you can go on feeling "normal" and "liked" as a human being. You can't seriously hate yourself that much in fears of being alone by it....or can you?
As starters, this post is not about advocating solitary confinement nor for the glorification of elitist loners, but rather one of common sense and investigation into the much shunned human phenomenon that's preserved to allow us to utilize our brains undisturbed and in peaceful awareness as nature intended: ALONE TIME.
Please love it, embrace it, cuddle it happily, contently. We could all use a little bit more of it without feeling sorry for ourselves needlessly. Too many people are just walking empty kernels of a reactive human existence conditioned to justify & mask its frail meanderings by feelings of acceptance, success through materialistic & superficial enjoyments, and off-putting drama - all of which require the cooperation of other empty shell kernels in a nest pool of incestuously self-conscious, needy, circumstantial, collective farm of communal denial, a.k.a. "society." Please excuse me if I don't oblige during my personal time.
It's okay to be an empty corn kernel, I am, and I'm completely fine with the fact that I'm no more important than a grain of sand in my cat's litter box, soiled even. And that I seek others like my meek self who aspire to unabashedly learn from our existence "as is" in all our ugly deformities and acknowledge it with humble inspiration or what potentially "could be" or "should be" rather than sugar coat and saturate each others' ears with lies and untruths of greatness and complements that feed hidden weaknesses and insecurities that don't want to see the light of day is profane and unheard of because it's foreign and you refuse to like it? I can easily give egos belly rubs, but not all the time, especially when they cross the spoilage line, unearned. There's enough Peter Keatings in this world that hinder growth and advancement of the human mind and ability that I simply refuse to encourage nor be accomplice in creating more. If that results in a personal* life alone, then so be it, as I shall entertain and enjoy life, its soul and mine contently, with gratitude, and with endless musings. Why this fact is unsettling and perturbs others to twist it into an unhealthy, pitiful situation is regretful. Maybe it's because I refuse to be a splitting image of self loath and discontentment that's unnerving. It's okay, not sad, not pitiful, and I'm sorry if the fact that you're also an empty kernel in existence or in my mind that it destroys your ego & sense of self worth cause I or the world forget to/refuse to embellish the truth that you're not the fluffy puffed up popcorn that you envision yourself to be. It's too glib, too easy, and for the sake of nothing but easing the cry of the insatiable ego that's always hungry for more, an act I can't keep up nor have the time nor energy to try. Only once a while for the sake of being agreeable, my friends, the rest takes individual work.
Instinctively, people tend to shun away from things they're not familiar or good at and flock to & keep close to familiarity and comfort, even if they are lesser goods cause it's simply easy and available. However, some of the most precious and beautiful things in life need to be earned and are hard to come by as they are cultivated through years of refinement and grace that you may not even comprehend. At least don't reject it and possibly learn to enjoy it and accept it in all its untainted glory even if it is alien and uncomfortable and your initial reaction may be to try to discredit it and spit on it as an egoistic defensive mechanism. Some of its clarified qualities may even rub off on you and vice versa. At least don't find ways to belittle those that chose to not settle for less and appreciate and encourage greatness, even when they are not (yet). It's a conscious choice, not involuntary, not random, and is completely exhilarating. Give it a shot sometime, or two. My door will always be open and welcome those that want in on the delusional yet consciously aware club of free radicals.
"It's said that the worst thing one can do to a man is to kill his self-respect. But that's not true. Self-respect is something that can't be killed. The worst thing is to kill a man's pretense at it."
Here's to the Peter Keatings of the world who have yet to see nor acknowledge they are Peter Keatings so that they can move on to being the more productive Howard Roarks of the world.
